About the Role

Our client is a Federal Government organisation based in the Melbourne CBD. They are currently seeking a Financial Reporting & Control Manager to come in and assist them on a permanent basis.

Candidates for this role must have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or similar OR CA/CPA qualification
  • Demonstrated experience across financial accounting and management accounting functions, including statutory reporting, compliance, audit, budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
  • Proven experience overseeing finance operations including accounts payable, payroll and core financial processing functions,
  • Previous experience at management level
  • Previous experience with government or a statutory authority (Essential)

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Team Leadership & Culture: Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to foster an accountable, high-performing culture focused on timely delivery.

  • Financial Operations: Oversee day-to-day operations including financial accounting, accounts payable, payroll oversight, and cash management, ensuring quality assurance through month- and year-end.

  • Reporting & Compliance: Lead the preparation and delivery of accurate, timely financial reporting, including management reports, statutory statements, and Board inputs.

  • Governance & Controls: Strengthen and enforce the internal controls framework, ensuring policies, procedures, and delegations comply with legislative and accounting standards.

  • Audit Coordination: Manage internal and external audit activities, ensuring all compliance actions and findings are effectively addressed and resolved.

  • Budgeting, Planning & Analysis: Drive organization-wide budgeting and forecasting, providing high-quality financial analysis and insights to the CFO, ELT, and senior stakeholders.

  • Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Relations: Optimize finance systems and processes to boost efficiency while managing key relationships with auditors, service providers, and government partners.

About You

You will be an experienced senior level financial reporting & Accounting professional with proven experience and reliability in previous roles.

The successful candidate will possess:
